Your state or county election office keeps the official list of registered voters and sells or gives it to candidates. Data companies resell the same list with extras added, often with high minimums.
Ask for the list for your ward, district, city or county, not the whole state. Local lists are cheap. Statewide files are big and cost the most.
Some states give you a login the same week. Others take one to two weeks, and some only release the file once a month. Order as soon as you decide to run.
Many states only sell to candidates, campaigns or registered voters, and some ask you to sign a statement about how you will use it. Nobody else can order it for you in those states.
