3. Get your file. It depends on the county. Expect an electronic file, and a USB drive fee if the file is too large to send another way. Ada County asks for payment before it releases the records and says it gives out existing reports only, not custom ones.

Tips before you order

• Expect the whole county, grouped by precinct. Ada County does not build custom reports, so ask your county for a precinct map and filter the list to your district yourself.
• Ask the clerk what fields the file includes and whether voting history can be added. Idaho law does not set a standard layout.
• Ada County says a records request takes about three days for Idaho residents and up to thirty days for out-of-state requesters (Idaho Code § 74-103).
• For a legislative district that crosses county lines, ask each county, or request the statewide list from the Secretary of State through its public records portal.
• Do not count on phone numbers. Collect them at the door and record them in CampaignKnock as you go.
